There is so much to do in the surrounding area, it
would be difficult to see it all in one trip. Here are some of the
highlights:

Mono Lake

Mono Lake is a 700,000 year old inland sea which is home to almost 300
species of nesting and migrating birds. Take a walk around the amazing
“Tufa” salt formations and believe for a moment that you are walking on the
moon. You can also find shiny obsidian volcanic glass in the surrounding
areas and see real volcano craters!Hikers, kayakers, bird watchers and photographers are drawn to the lake throughout the year.

Yosemite

One of the most scenic national parks in the United States, Yosemite is
seen by countless visitors every year. Located in the heart of the Sierra,
its breathtaking scenery is enjoyed by hikers, campers, fishermen,
climbers, or tourists simply passing through. There are no words to
describe the beauty of this world famous destination – you’ve got to see
it to experience it.

Bodie

In 1859 Gold was discovered in Bodie. This begun the gold rush of the
Eastern Sierra. When it was booming, Bodie was home to at least 10,000
residents and
had schools, saloons, churches, a firehouse and more. This is the largest
unrestored ghost town in the American West. Over 100 original buildings
still remain.

Lee Vining

Overlooking Mono Lake, this quiet, small town in the heart of the Eastern
Sierra acts as a “base” for visitors interested in sightseeing, bird
watching, photography, camping, fishing, hiking, kayaking, or simply
sitting still and enjoying the atmosphere.

June Lake Loop

There are actually four beautiful lakes tucked in the base of some of the
most spectacular mountains in the Sierra. This area offers year round
recreation in a romantic setting with a European feel. This area is
popular for its skiing, fishing, hiking swimming and incredible fall
colors.

Mammoth Lakes

Known for its world famous ski area, Mammoth is a year-round resort with
all kinds of activities for the entire family-including snowmobiling, ice
skating and of course, skiing in the winter. Other activities include
hiking, fishing, biking, golf and more in the summer. You’ll also find a
wide variety of shops and restaurants.
